Ragon Institute Director, Dr. Bruce Walker was honored at the 5th Annual Gala Sida Barcelona (AIDS Gala) held on November 12 in Barcelona, Spain.

The AIDS Gala is an annual event held by the Fight AIDS Foundation. Established in 1992 by Dr. Bonaventura Clotet, the Fight AIDS Foundation is a non-profit organization whose main aims are healthcare, research and teaching in the field of HIV and AIDS.

The Gala was held at the Oval Hall at Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya with Miguel Bosé as its host and Genoveva Casanova as the Gala Ambassador. Renowned Flamenco dancer Sara Baras, together with the members of her company, gave a charity performance.

Dr. Walker was recognized for his work in the HIV/AIDS research field and was presented the award by Dr. Bonaventura Clotet (pictured above).   The award was especially designed for the Foundation by Jaume Plensa, one of Spain’s most internationally acclaimed artists.
