Diagnostics

Diagnostics for HIV and related diseases have generally been developed for use in resource-rich settings, like well-equipped laboratories with skilled technicians able to run complex assays. However, HIV, tuberculosis, malaria and other diseases of global scope often affect poor people living in resource-poor areas. Thus, there is a pressing need for simpler, less expensive, robust diagnostic systems for tests such as CD4 cell counting, HIV viral load measurement, or TB drug resistance testing.

Ragon researchers are working to develop appropriate diagnostic assays for use at the point-of-care or in resource-limited settings that can help address these needs.
