  Prevention
The Ragon Institute is involved in the prevention of HIV/AIDS by the aggressive identification and treatment of patients with acute HIV infection. By identifying these patients at the point of highest transmission potential, intensive medical and educational interventions are employed to reduce the public health risk of transmission to others.

In addition, the Ragon Institute is committed to educating the Boston community about measures that can reduce transmission of the HIV and Hepatitis C viruses.  Ragon Institute personnel are available to speak to community groups and students, from elementary school through college, about HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and other sexually-transmitted diseases. The expertise of the  Ragon Institute staff to educate students about these critical subjects promotes important messages about prevention.

To request a  Ragon Institute staff member as a speaker at your community group or school, please e-mail Kathleen Donnelly.
