During the 5th International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention, July 19-22, 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa, Dr Walker presented about how different host genetic factors influence viral evolution and population changes over time. This has implications for vaccine development. He says, "We have data that the HIV virus can be controlled by the immune system and we need to focus on priority areas and prevention moving forward."
