Elizabeth Taylor, actress and AIDS activist, dies at 79
From the early years of the AIDS crisis, Elizabeth Taylor was a fearless activist
Mar 23, 2011

At a time when most people feared this new disease, her compassion and fearless activism was remarkable. In 1983, she helped to found theAmerican Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). And in 1991, she created the Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation.

"I could no longer take a passive role," she said. "This [foundation] allows me to put money where it's truly needed, to those organizations serving people with HIV/AIDS or preventive education. I won't stop until that hideous disease is conquered."

Elizabeth Taylor was an amazing supporter of HIV/AIDS care and she will be dearly missed.
